Nine days after winning the 5000m race in the just concluded Golden Spike Marathon Championships in Ostrava, Uganda’s long distance runner Jacob Kiplimo has again triumphed in the Men’s 3000m race at the Diamond League.
Kiplimo with a timing of 7:26.64, beat Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen down the stretch to win gold in an event held at Stadio Olympico in Rome, Italy on Thursday evening.
He resets his personal best which was previously 7:43.73 he had achieved during the IAAF World Cross Country Junior Championship in Doha.
He also shone in the 10,000m race bagging silver at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championship in Tampere, Finland.
Ingebrigtsen finished second after clocking 7:27.05 while Australia’s Stewart McSweyn came third having clocked 7:28.02.
