Educationists and Senior School Inspectors have been urged to start thinking ‘’without the box’’ if they are to deliver quality Education during this Covid-19 pandemic
The call was made recently by Dr. Tony Mukasa Lusambu, the Assistant Commissioner Primary Education at the Ministry of Education and Sports while addressing District Education Officers and school Inspectors from Acholi and Lango sub-region.
Dr. Mukasa noted that the Education sector has greatly changed because of the Covid-19 pandemic adding that Educationists now need creative thinking so that learners in various schools can adapt to the new changes.
He added that School heads should be innovative in the ways they conduct lessons and offer learning materials to the different learners in the Schools and Institutions because the changes brought by the Pandemic are still here to stay.
Dr. Mukasa also cautioned the teachers against giving severe punishment and ridiculing the learners that will return to schools almost after 6 months of staying at home because that will affect their learning in the long run.
Ms. Joyce Lanyero, Chairperson of DEOs of Acholi sub-region in her speech noted that many schools in the sub-region are grappling with putting the standard Operating procedures [SOPs] put to avoid the spread of Covid-19 in schools
She further appealed to government to support rural and community schools because they are the most affected because of the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic
