Dennis Onyango Named in CAF Champions League Season XI

Uganda Cranes captain Dennis Onyango has been named on the CAF Champions League Team of the year.

The Mamelodi Sundowns shot stopper (together with his team mate Percy Tau) reached this achievement following his efforts in the concluded tournament.

The Sundowns who were the defending Champions were eliminated in the Quarter finals via penalty shoot outs following a one all draw on aggregate with Wydad Cassablanca.

This is the second year running that Onyango, who has been exceptional for his club as he put together superb performances throughout the tournament, has been named on the best Eleven.

Ali maaloul of Al Ahly, Taha Yassine Khenissi of Esperance, Farouk Chafai of Alger and Youseff Rabeh of Wydad Athletic Club among others made this star studded list this year.

It should be noted that Onyango still has a chance to defend his crown of African Player of the year he won last year, as the player was recently named on the 30-player shortlist by CAF – together with his country man Geoffrey Sserunkuma.

The full team is listed below:

Dennis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns), Ali Maaloul (Al Ahly), Farouk Chafai (USM Alger), Hamdi Nagguez (Etoile du Sahel), Youssef Rabeh (Wydad Athletic Club), Moamen Zakaria (Al Ahly), Brahim Nekkach (Wydad Athletic Club), Mohamed Amine Ben Amor (Etoile du Sahel), Mohamed Ounajem (Wydad Athletic Club), Percy Tau (Mamelodi Sundowns) and Taha Yassine Khenissi (Esperance).
