The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Rosette Byengoma has called upon the Public Servants to serve Uganda without corruption tendencies.
The PS made the remarks while officiating at the ceremony to mark Africa Public Service Day 2018 celebrated under the theme ‘Combating Corruption in Public Service Institutions through Stake-holder Participation of Ethical Leadership to realize the objectives of Agenda 2063 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).’
“I think corruption is a song that has been sung for long and its time we repent of this evil deed,” she advised.

“Uganda is great and we need to be proud of her and avoid taking ill when discussing her destiny,” she added.
The African Public Service day is celebrated annually by all member states in recognition of the United Nations International Day of Public Service. The National Celebrations will be held on 22nd June 2018 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

This year’s MoDVA Public Service Day activities included HIV testing and counseling to all staff, blood donation and a charity walk from MoDVA Headquarters Mbuya to Kiswa Primary School Bugolobi.
The Ministry donated 100 boxes of sanitary towels to pupils of Kiswa Primary School at Bugolobi in Nawala division.
Bwengoma thanked the Government of Uganda for peace and security, saying that “with security everything is possible.”

Bwengoma said they chose to help the girl child because of the challenges that hinder them from completing school.
Aisha Namaganda, Headmistress Kiswa Primary School applauded the Ministry for choosing their School to be part of the ministry’s social corporate responsibility activity while commemorating this years’ Africa Public Service Day.
The Mayor of Nakawa Division Roland Balimwezo Nsubuga, the Commissioner Human Resource Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Cox Aguzu, Ministry of Defence officials among others attended the event.
