Comedians Omara Daniel, Pablo real name Kenneth Kimuli together with Somalia’s Aisha Ali and Uganda’s best female radio presenter & events host, Miss Deedan Muyira highly impressed guests who attended the Kampala Geopolitics Conference held at Makerere University Main Hall.
As many Ugandans and other nationals relate Omara and Pablo to comedy mostly, they were on Friday October 26 proved wrong by the comedians when they opened the conference by discussing topics like money, minorities costing a lot to society and many more.
Omara, Pablo, Aisha and Miss Deedan were put in a competition where they chose different topics randomly and the audience had to judge and choose the best, loudest & audible contestant, the one who was to be crowned overall winner was to go home with a big price.
The four were to use 5 minutes each to present their thoughts on the topics.
Omara, while discussing whether the minority groups are costly to the society or not, said that they play different roles just like anyone else and should be accorded the respect they deserve.
“Everyone in the world has some kind of contribution they make to society. We need to look at people based on their contribution to society and not based on their cost to society. Minority groups need to be treated equally in society, everyone has something to contribute to society,” said Omara.
On the other hand Pablo said that Uganda has got Democracy in that people are free to dialogue and address issues that affect them freely.
“There is democracy in Uganda, the fact that we are here discussing democracy means there is democracy, otherwise, we wouldn’t be discussing freely without any interference,” said Pablo.
Miss Deedan discussed about how the Black Panther Movie awakened Africans towards realizing their potential.
Not wanting to be out competed, every one of the four gave justice to the topics which then confused the audience on whom to choose as the best contestant.
H.E Rivoul Stephanie the French Ambassador to Uganda who was the moderator and the chief judge decided to give all the four contestants their offers.
Pablo was given chance to attend a free French course either in Uganda or France, Miss Deedan won 2 bottles of Champagne, whereas Aisha is to watch movies of her choice in any cinema of her choice for as long as she wants and Omara is to be treated to a dinner for two at the luxurious Kampala Sheraton Hotel together with the French Ambassador and Diplomats.
