Uganda is set to host this year’s Da Vinci exhibition where the greatest 17 art pieces by the iconic Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci will be displayed at his 500th death anniversary
Addressing journalists in Kampala H.E Massimiliano Mazzanti the Italian Ambassador to Uganda said this exhibition will run between November 19 and January 5th 2020.
The Ambassador also revealed that the exhibition will be held into two African cities of Kampala Uganda and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia
“Uganda is the only country in the world where three different Popes have visited and is therefore very special to Italy” Massimiliano Mazzanti said.
The event, he said, is a great opportunity for not only tourism but also Ugandan artists to learn a thing or two.
Da Vinci is an iconic figure in Italian culture but also one of the most influential artists in the world with interests in science, mathematics, drawing, painting, literature and architecture
At the exhibition, true-to-size reproductions of Leonardo’s 17 paintings scattered in various locations around the world will be.
On top of that there will be three days of training on Mediterranean diet by Italian chefs at the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute in Jinja, pizza and rolex competition among other activities
The funds which will be collected from this exhibition will go to Katalemwa Cheshire Home which handles rehabilitation services to vulnerable children.
