Crested Cranes Start Training Ahead Of CECAFA Tournament

The Uganda senior women’s football team has commenced preparations ahead of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations(CECAFA) tournament.

The tournament that will be staged in Rwanda this month will attract the teams around the East African region.

Faridah Bulega the head coach summoned a provisional team of 28 players who commenced training on Tuesday morning at Mandela National Stadium.

Bulega has maintained a core of the squad that faced Kenya in the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers.

However, she has added nine new faces including Fazilah Ikwaput and Ritah Nabossa who recently were playing with Gokalum Kerala in India.

The others include goalkeeper Gloria Namakula, defender Bridget Nabisaalu and versatile Annet Namwenge all from Ajax Queens Bulenga.

The other newly summoned players include Meble Kusasira(Kampala Queens), Favour Nambatya(Muteesa I Royal University), Rodha Nanziri(St.Noa), Sheebah Zalwango(Gafford Ladies) and Lilian Mutuuzo from Taggy High School.

Tanzania won the last edition hosted by Uganda in 2016 defeating Kenya in the finals.
