Goalkeeper Ruth Aturo has earned her name in as far as women’s football in Uganda is concerned. From a budding/promising player, she has gone to scale her status as a prominent public figure.
Being the reigning FUFA Women player of the year, several young players especially girls look up to Aturo as an inspiration.
And the shot stopper has not been mean to share her success story to the young players. At the start of this week, Aturo paid a visit to Soroti sports ground, an area where she hails from.
When asked why she took this initiative, Aturo who plays at UCU Lady Cardinals in the FUFA Women Elite League intimated to this website that it is important to share her personal experience to the raising stars.
” I thought it was a good move for me to go back to where my career started and try to motivate these raising stars. I personally come from a humble background but I thank God that I have been able to reach the level I am today.” She said.
Some of the advice Aturo shared with the kids include discipline, staying in school and keep working hard.
She did this in the company of fellow national team players Fazilah Ikwaput and Grace Aluka who also come from the same region.
Aturo had a splendid 2018 both for club and country emerging as the best women player of the year.
