Cranes Coach McKinstry Names Full Traveling Squad for Dubai Camp

Uganda Cranes head coach Jonathan McKinstry has named a 40-man squad that will depart on Sunday evening for a residential camp in Dubai.

The traveling contingent has 26 players and 14 officials who will depart via Entebbe International Airport for the 10-day training camp.

Ahead of their departure, McKinstry noted that a couple of players were ruled out of training camp due to some travel restrictions.

“A number of players were unfortunately ruled out from consideration for the training camp due to Covid-19 travel restrictions applicable to them, or through injury. However the camp presents a great opportunity for a large quota of the foreign based players alongside the best players in the Uganda premier league to prepare for upcoming AFCON and CHAN engagements,” McKinstry told the FUFA website.

All the ten locally based players who underwent mandatory Covid-19 testing on Thursday had negative results hence making them available for travel.

The camp has been organized in line with preparations for the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers and the 2020 CHAN Finals to be held in Cameroon next year.
