Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has also commenced a standard two week self quarantine, as the country’s Covid19 situation gets grimmer.
The Premier announced Friday morning that he was going into self isolation after some of his contacts tested positive for Covid19.
“My own test result is negative, however, I have taken this decision as a health recommended measure,” Rugunda said.
The development comes as government announced mass testing for all members of Cabinet for Covid19.
The testing kicked off today at the Prime Minister’s office.
Earlier this week, an unnamed Commissioner in the Ministry of Health reportedly tested positive for the virus, and as such, nine of their contacts, who include the LC5 Chairman of Gulu district as well as journalists were placed under quarantine.
Uganda’s Covid19 cases currently stand at 557 after 35 new cases were confirmed from Thiursday’s testing.
