Covid19 Positive Kenyan Truck Driver Intercepted in Kisoro, Residents Panic

The Kisoro district Covid19 task force led by the RDC Captain Peter Mugisha and the district chairman Abel Bizimana has intercepted a Kenyan truck driver who tested positive for Coronavirus.

The driver identified as Daudi Noor was intercepted at the Cyanika Border.

He was driving truck number KBZ 857F and was in company of another person identified as Abdiwahab Saidi Issaik.

The driver is said to have exited Uganda on Tuesday April 21st through Cyanika, into Rwanda and he arrived back today morning.

Abel Bizimana the district chairman says the driver was immediately driven to Kabale regional referral hospital and his colleague was placed into quarantine at St Francis Hospital Mutolere.

Bizimana says this case has thrown the entire district into panic as health teams scramble trace all of the driver’s contacts.

“We are in a situation of fear and panic as now…we have to trace his contacts in all the places he slept. This is a time for the locals that have been failing to adhere to the president’s directives to wake up because the virus is now among us,” he said.
