The Masaka district leadership is set to declare its own new measures aimed at protecting residents against the Covid19 pandemic.
The district chairperson Jude Mbabaali says he’ll be announcing the new measures basing on the powers granted to him under Article 183 (1) (a) of the Constitution and in consultation with Political, Technical and medical staff
“We are likely to enforce a total lockdown in the next 12 hours due to the real threat of corona. Information available from our Covid19 Task Force Masaka shows that we have a number of people amongst the community who got in contact with the confirmed cases,” Mbabaali said.
Two of the recently declared new Covi19 cases by the Ministry of Health in the country are from Masaka
These were relatives of one of the patients who tested Positive of COVID 19 on Tuesday last week a few days after returning from Dubai
Mbabaali says the contacts are currently everywhere in arcades and shops transacting business.
“We have the support of Central government on this matter. Police plus Kasijagirwa barracks have been put on notice to enforce this lock down without mercy when the time comes. So this is to alert you to finalize on all that you have to do.”
President Yoweri Museveni is expected to address the nation tonight about more new measures to encounter this pandemic.
