At least ten health workers at Kabale regional referral Hospital have been put under quarantine after getting in contact with a Covid-19 patient.
The health workers reportedly attended to the patient, whom they didn’t know had the virus.
26 other patients, who were unknowingly in the medical ward with the Covid-19 patient, have also been quarantined.
Alfred Besigensi, the Acting Kabale District Health officer confirmed that all the patients in the ward at the hospital where the Covid-patient was admitted, including those that had been discharged have been recalled and put under quarantine.
Kabale district recorded her first community COVID-19 case in the person of a 56-year old man who travelled from Kampala to Nyakijumba -Kabale Municipality.
The patient had been admitted at Kabale Regional Referral hospital on Sunday with high temperature and headache.
According to Besigensi, the health workers suspected him of Covid-19 and the samples were drawn from him and taken to the Uganda Virus Research Institute until his results turned positive on Thursday evening.
Six members of his family have also been put under quarantine.
