Covid19: Gulu District Chairman, Journalists, Health Workers Quarantined

Gulu district chairman Mr Martin Ojara Mapenduzi and 9 other people including health officials and journalists have been put under quarantine.

These are said to have gotten in contact with a senior Ministry of Health official who recently tested positive for Covid19.

As per the Standard Operating Procedures, all those who interacted with the Ministry official were identified and they include media personnel that interacted with the official on a radio talk show.

When contacted, Gloria Aloyo, the Gulu district Local Government Communications Officer confirmed this development saying that a samples of all the 9 people have been taken to Entebbe and results will be announced accordingly.

She added however that there should not be any cause for alarm since they are only contacts.

Ms. Aloyo also revealed that Angaya Health Center III in Unyama Sub-county in Gulu district has been closed after a woman tested Positive for Covid-19 from the health facility

All the 19 staffs of the health center have been quarantine for 14 days and the results samples for all these have been taken for testing

Gulu Regional referral hospital currently has 65 Covid-19 Positive cases that are being treated at its Isolation ward.
