Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Robert Odongkara has missed a chance to win his first title with Horoya AC following the cancellation of the domestic league in Guinea due to COVID 19 pandemic.
Odonkara’s Horoya Athletic Club was on top of the Guinea League 1- Pro table standings before it was declared null and void on Thursday evening.
Table toppers, Horoya AC had 29 points from 13 games, four better of second placed Wakirya Athletic Club.
Mathurin Bangoura, the Guinea League 1-Pro president noted that the season has been declared nullified since it’s impossible to resume the games in time before winter.
The cancellation of the league applies to both the Guinea League 1 and 2 divisions since football is on an indefinite suspension in the country following the crisis.
League president, Bangoura said that there will be no relegation or promotion this season while the top three placed teams for the first round will represent Guinea in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
Before the break, Horoya had stormed into the semi finals of the CAF Confederation Cup where they were drawn against Abdul Lumala’s Pyramids.
The Cranes’ shot-stopper joined Horoya from Ethiopian side Adama City on a two-year contract. He previously played for St George, SC Villa and URA FC.
