The six Chinese nationals who were recently arrested in Zombo district after escaping from the quarantine are expected to appear before Nakawa Magistrates court today
The suspects are Huang Haigiang, Li Chaochyan, Lin Xiaofang, Qin Shening, Liang Xinging and Huang wei
These will be charged alongside two Ugandan nationals who are said to have assisted them in escaping.
Addressing the press last night at Minstry of Health headquarters, Hon Moriku Kaducu the state Minster in charge of Primary Health Care, revealed that on Monday blood samples were taken from all the accused and the results are expected to be out today before being taken to court.
According to the sanctioned charge sheet from the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), the six are charged with ‘doing an act likely to spread infection of a disease.’
At the same time two Ugandans Matovu Abdul, 35, and Nassuna Abdul, 2, are facing the same charge.
Prosecution alleges that the six Chinese on 19th March 2020 at Kibuli Hotel Africa, knowing or having a reason to believe that it was likely to spread infection of dangerous disease to life; unlawfully or negligently escaped from self-quarantine from the said hotel without completing 14 mandatory days against COVID 19 to Zombo district.
