A COVID-19 suspected case, an expectant mother, on Saturday, August 15, gave birth to a baby girl at Entebbe hospital via caesarean section.
A team of doctors from Entebbe hospital successfully operated on the mother after she was referred to them from Kawempe hospital.
She was referred because she was a suspected case of COVID-19 as she had cough, chest pain, difficulty in breathing which are signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
According to Dr Diana Atwine, the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, the mother required oxygen and delivered a baby girl weighing 3.9kgs.
“Our team at Entebbe hospital successfully operated on a mother suspected to have COVID-19 and she safely gave the world a baby girl (3.9kgs). The patient came in with cough, chest pain, difficulty in breathing and draining liquor and required oxygen,” Atwine announced.
The Ministry of Health spokesperson, Emmanuel Ainebyoona said, “the mother is improving and the baby is doing well.”
