Covid-19 Death Toll Rises to 60 as 2 Cases are Registered in Soroti, Mbale

Results from the Covid-19 tests conducted yesterday September 15 by the Ministry of Health indicate that Uganda’s Covid-19 deaths are now 60 after two cases were registered in Soroti and Mbale districts.

A total of 143 new cases were recorded from the 2,849 samples tested. 243 samples were collected from points of entry while 2,606 were from alerts and contacts.

Currently, the cumulative Covid-19 confirmed cases in Uganda are 5,226 and the cumulative covid-19 samples tested to date are 439,025.

From the 143 new cases, the 135 contacts and alerts indicated Kampala as the leading zone with 66 cases, Buikwe (15), Lira (14), Mbale (7), Tororo (7), Soroti (5), Bundibugyo (3), Buvuma (3), Kiryadongo (8), Wakiso (2), Arua (1), Masaka (3) and Zombo (1).

8 returnees also tested positive for Covid-19; 4 from Oman, India (1), Senegal (1), UK (1) and Ethiopia (1).

The total number of Covid-19 recoveries is 2,404.
