Fairway Hotel has donated 1,000 masks to the UPDF Task Force combating the spread of Coronavirus.
The support was delivered by the hotel’s Managing Director Mr Azhar Jaffer to the Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi on Tuesday.
The army is enforcing a lockdown and night curfew.
UPDF soldiers also patrol the border to block illegal immigrants from entering the country.
The army also is involved in distribution of relief food to the vulnerable people who were affected by the measures enforced to stop the spread of COVID-19.
While receiving the donations, Gen Muhoozi appreciated the “continued support the public has continued to give to the forces.”
“The UPDF is supporting the Uganda Police Force in enforcing measures to prevent the spread of COVID 19, and also attached its’ expert personnel to various health teams,” said defence spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire.
Present at the function was the Joint Chief of Staff Lt Gen Joseph Musanyufu and Chief of Medical Services Maj Gen Dr Ambrose Musinguzi who noted that these masks will be very helpful especially to the frontline soldiers.
