Court Summons Pastor Bugingo for ‘Insulting Religion’

Pastor Aloysius Bugingo of House of Prayer Ministries in Makerere Kikoni, Kampala has been summoned by Chief Magistrate Esther Nasambu Rebecca to Nabweru Court for reportedly ‘insulting religion.’

This follows a case filed by former Ddembe Presenter Aloysius Matovu Kiiza and his colleague Francis Jemba, both born-again Christians.

In the Court summons that this website has received, Bugingo is given 15 days to file a defense.

“Should you fail to fail a defense on or before the date, the plaintiff may proceed with the suit and judgment maybe given in your absence” part of the summon reads.

Speaking to ChimpLyf, Aloysius Matovu said: “On Monday at 3pm we shall have our first hearing at the chief magistrate’s court of Nabweru.

He also adds that “We and our lawyers are ready.”

Through their lawyers, Wamell and Co. Advocates, the duo filed a case in April accused the pastor of “insulting religion and wounding Religious feelings” when he torched hundreds of Bibles at his church.
