Court Sets Free Businessman Accused Of Murdering Flying Squad Operatives

Kampala High court judge Steven Mubiru has released Ndeeba businessman Godfrey Muhirwa, who has been accused of murdering three Police Flying Squad operatives and unlawful possession of a fire arm.

Mihirwa was released after State Prosecutor Fatia Nakafeero told court that the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mike Chibita had lost interest in the case.

“My lord basing on the Nolle Prosequi serial number 392, dated 24th January 2019 and signed by the DPP I have instructions to discontinue the proceedings against the accused,” submitted Nakafeero

The judge thus released the suspect immediately, noting; “you’re free and you’re no longer required to report to court in fulfilment of bail conditions.”

The judge also informed court that the DPP has promised to handle the claims concerning Muhirwa’s confiscated property and thus asked him to follow up with that office.

Prosecution had claimed that on October 15th 2014, while at Nsiike zone in Ndeeba, Muhirwa killed three police officers, Deogratius Jaaya, Mohammed Kiwana and Matia Busulwa, accusing them of robbing him.
