Court Remands American National For Unlawful Possession of Fire Arms

Entebbe Magistrate’s Court presided over by chief magistrate Mary Kaitesi Lukwago has remanded back to Kigo Prison an American national, Paul Rogers Mathias who was recently charged with unlawful possession of a pistol.

Last Friday the magistrates’ court charged Paul with 3 counts which included unlawful possession of a fire arm and 165 live ammunitions without a valid license.

The accused, a resident of Mawanyi village   in Kajjansi Town council, Wakiso district is said to have committed the offenses between 9th/February and 18th/March 2018 both at his residence and at Entebbe International Airport.

He is also charged with one count of physically assaulting his wife Lillian Kaitesi on the 13th/January 2018 from their home in Mawanyi, causing her bodily pain and harm.

The accused denied all the charges.

Although the prosecution today was ready for hearing with a police officer as their first witness; Defense Counsel Rwadslaus Rwakafuzi told court his side wasn’t ready.

It was also expected that today, the magistrate would hear Paul’s bail application, to allow him be tried while coming from home.

The case was pushed to 9th March 2018.
