Nakawa grade one magistrate Noah Sajjabi has released on bail three people accused of Terrorism and the murder of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
The freed are Ahmad Shaban Senfuka, Umar Maganda and Abdul Kaala.
The magistrate granted each of the suspects a cash bail of 2 million shillings while their sureties were bonded at 500 million shillings non cash.
“Although the prosecution had objected to granting the accused persons Bail basing on the fact that some of their sureties didn’t have LC 1 recommendation letters, court considered them substantial because they presented National IDs indicating that they are Ugandans,” the magistrate ruled.
The released are expected to report to District Police Commanders of their areas every second Friday of the month and these commanders are to send to court periodical reports showing their compliance.
The court today released a total of 5 supects on bail, but only the three were able to meet the requirements.
The other two suspects Ali Mugoya and Sinani Hibwagi were sent back to prison as the former lacked substantial sureties, while the latter’s sureties had not arrived at court during the court session.
