Anti-Corruption Court Grade One magistrate Moses Nabende has issued a warrant of arrest against former Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander ACP Siraje Bakaleke for failing to turn up to court in spite of the criminal summons issued.
Bakaleke was expected today to appear in court to take plea alongside 7 others, but he didn’t show up, and neither did his lawyers.
Court also extended criminal summons against Bakaleke’s co- accused Paul Wanyoto after his lawyers asked the trial magistrate for an extension, on grounds that their client was away in China.
Meanwhile the other six suspects were charged and they all pleaded not guilty to the charges of Kidnap.
These further asked court to release them on bail after presenting 3 sureties each and promised to abide by bail terms.
The suspects ininclude Paul Nabeta , Samuel Mulowooza, D/ASP Nuwagaba innocent ,D/AIP Aiimwe Robert , PC Amanya Junior , PC Babu Gasatara and PC Zirintuusa Kenneth .
These are facing 12 counts of Kidnapping or abducting with intent to confine; conspiracy to commit a felony and conspiracy to defraud.
These are accused of kidnapping Jahn Seukwan, a Korean whom it is alleged that they robbed USD 415,000.
