Court Grants Bail to Parliament Intruders

City Hall grade one Magistrate Fatumah Nabirye yesterday released on bail two people accused of trespassing and interrupting Parliamentary proceedings

The two Datala Senjakko ne Charles Mutaasa Kafeero were released on a non cash bail of one million shillings each having presented substantial sureties.

It is alleged that the accused on 19th this month jumped from the parliamentary gallery and fell onto the floor on the side of Members from the ruling party, accusing legislators of being selfish

They were ordered to deposit in court their original copies of National Identity cards.

The suspects in their bail applications had claimed to have been tortured in detention, but the magistrate dismissed this saying they didn’t produce in court enough evidence to prove their allegations.

The matter has been adjourned up to 12th March 2020 for hearing.
