Nakawa Grade One Magistrate Noah Sajjabbi yesterday declined to dismiss the terrorism case against 22 people accused of murdering the former police spokesman Andrew Felix Kaweesi
Five of the suspects through their lawyer Anthony Wammeli had asked court to dismiss the terrorism charges on grounds that prosecution has failed to adduce evidence against them within the prescribed six months by law.
Wammeli wondered why the prosecution couldn’t declare that it failed to obtain evidence against his clients in the last two years.
In his ruling, the magistrate said he couldn’t decide in the matter at such a stage since prosecution informed court that investigations were still ongoing.
The state prosecutor handling this matter Racheal Nabwire informed court that government is still gathering evidence to prosecute the murder suspects who are currently on bail.
The magistrate thus adjourned the matter to 10th January next year.
