Coronavirus: Nakawa RCC Orders Factories To Provide Protective Gear To Workers

In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID 19 pandemic caused by Coronavirus, the Nakawa Division Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Herbert Anderson Burora has issued an order directing all factories and companies to provide their employees with protective gear such as masks, sanitizers, gloves among others at the cost of the company.

“To factories, it is mandatory that every worker or employee in your factories or companies get protective gear and this should be provided for by the factory or company owners. It should not be subjected to the employees. It should be at the cost of the factory.”

To factories that have huge number of workers, he ordered that they should work in shifts to avoid congestion.

“We urge you and we are going to come to you to make sure that if you have big numbers and your places of work are small, you initiate what we call shifts so that we reduce on the concentration and congestion. And make sure that from point to point you put disinfectants and hand washing facilities.”

For Hotels, he said it’s mandatory to have thermometers and temperature monitors to check any individual accessing the premises.

Since schools have been closed, he cautioned students and parents against moving from villages to towns and vice versa as this can increase the risk of transmission.

“Since schools have closed, we want to urge the public that children have not gone on holiday and they should avoid the manners of taking children from towns to villages and vice versa because that is another form of transmitting the virus.”

To children who have gone home, he called on them to stay home and avoid unnecessary movements.

“This is aimed at protecting you. We took you home to isolate you from people who have various movements.”
