A police officer working with Foot Force Patrol Police in Bukuya sub county, Mubende district suspected of shooting two people dead and injuries three others has been arrested.
Police Spokesman Emilian Kayima in a statement said Sam Mutungi was arrested Tuesday evening.
Mutungi, who is a police constable, is said to have gunned down the victims at a bar after they engaged in a scuffle and assaulted him.
To retaliate, he left the bar, and return with a gun which he used to execute the grissly act.
“The police Constable suspected to have killed two people and injured three has been arrested this evening while he was hiding in the bush in Bukuya Sub County,” said Kayima’s statement.
“This act of his arrest will help us in establishing the truth that will help in holding him to account for the criminal action of murder and attempted murder.”
Kayima also revealed that the Director Operations in the Uganda police AIGP Asuman Mugyenyi is in the area to support the local police in fighting crime in that part of the country.
