Congolese College In Kabale House Grabbing Scandal

African International Christian Ministries-AICM Vocational Training Institute has come under fire for allegedly grabbing a house illegally.

This institution was founded by the Emeritus Bishop of North Kivu in Democratic Republic of Congo Rt. Rev. Enock Kayeye and the house in question is located in Rushambya Kirigime ward Kabale Municipality.

According to the complainant, medical Evas Habaasa 57 years a resident of Kigongi A cell in central Division Kabale Municipality, this web she bought the land in 1999 from Rev. Moses Tindyebwa and started constructing the house until 2007 when it was completed.

In 2008 Habaasa rented the house to Timothy Twikiriize Kayeye a lawyer from Twikiriize and Company Advocates and the then Training Institute Director; at a cost of Shs 4 million a year, and he turned it into a male students’ hostel.

Habaasa further claims that since 2009, Twikiriize in collaboration with the institute claimed ownership of the house.

She also says she tried to file a case in the Kabale Magistrates court in 2009 but it was never heard, it has never been heard, as the defendants kept dodging ocurt proceedings.

Efforts to get a comment from Twikiriize were fruitless as he repeatedly declined to pick our reporter’s phone call.

However, the AICM chairperson finance board Fred Twinobusingye says that there is
no reason Habaasa should complain because the college bought the house from one only identified as Edward at an amount of one hundred million shillings.
