KCCA FC vs Mtibwa Sugar, 4:00 PM
KCCA FC and Mtibwa Sugar will face off in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo on Saturday.
Winner on aggregate for this tie advance to the playoffs round – This is the last hurdle before reaching the group stages.
In a pre match press conference held on Friday at Lugogo, Mtibwa Coach Zubeiri Katwila predicted a tough duel:
“We know KCCA FC are good, but we knew that we will meet a big team after our first round win,” noted Coach Katwila.
“They have played in the CAF Champions league but we are ready for them tomorrow.”
To reach this stage, Mtibwa Sugar eliminated Northern Dynamos 5-0 on aggregate. The Tanzanians won 4-0 at home before winning 1-0 on the road.
Mtubwa Captain Shaban Nditi noted: “It’s important to pick a good result in our first leg so as we can finish off business with ease, at home.
It’s going to be a tough one for us, but we do our best.”
When asked about how difficult it will be fir them to play on an artificial turf, he explained: “We played Northern Dynamo at an artificial turf (Chamaza Stadium) and there are many artificial turf grounds in Tanzania.”
Mtibwa Sugar are currently fourth in the Tanzania League with 23 points from 14 games. They have won 7, drawn twice and lost five games.
