Juma Miiro has brought a bronze medal for Uganda in Boxing in the ongoing 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
The younger Boxer has lost his semi final fight today morning to Amit Panghal of India in the flyweight (49 kgs).
Miiro who had defeated Kenya’s Shaffi Hassan at the quarter finals to storm the semis, came into this bout with a medal guaranteed already.
However, he could not go for a gold fight as he was absolutely a ‘no match’ to the Indian who kept throwing rapid punches from the start, onto his face.
Amit, a southpole fighter, won by unanimous decision as all the five judges scored in his favour (5-0) – He will then face off with England’s Galal Yafai in the finals.
Miiro’s bronze is the fourth medal Uganda has garnered in the ongoing games; Joshua Cheptegei (Gold), Stella Chesang (Gold) and Mercyline Chelangat (bronze) are the other victors.
