Comedy Show Battle: Will it be Rudeboy or Harmonize?

Setting aside a number of other shows that will be happening on Valentine’s Day, we take a close look at the two prominent comedians Alex Muhangi and Patrick Salvado’s shows which will be happening the same day.

The question is, is it going to be Rudeboy, real name Paul Okoye, or Harmonize conquering the night? Well, as of now it’s still too early to judge both shows.

From the look of things, all the organizers of these two competitive shows ‘Africa Laughs’ season five and ‘Rude boy live’ in Kampala are optimistic that their shows will be the biggest in town come February 14, 2020.

As Rude boy’s show, organised by Alex Muhangi, will be happening at Cricket Oval Lugogo, Salvado’s Africa Laughs featuring Harmonize, will also be going down at Kololo Airstrip.

This has in the recent weeks raised concern from the public with the fans saying one should have scheduled the event on a different day.

Muhangi, in one of his tweets, said that they are two different brands doing business where each brand can do whatever they want at any time of their choice.

Away from the competition, the blunt and hilarious Salvado, ‘Man from Ombokolo’ who draws his humour from events in society and his village ‘Ombokolo’ will not only be celebrating 10 years of doing comedy ever since he quit his engineering career, but will also be celebrating his birthday.

Addressing journalists at a press conference held Tuesday to announce his tenth anniversary show, the much sought-after comedian revealed that comedy has changed his life and helped him grow as a person.

“I’m forever grateful to my brothers and sisters who pushed me to join stand-up comedy in Uganda, they were so persistent,” said Salvado.

First held in 2013, ‘The Singleton Africa Laughs’ show will this year be running its fifth lap and to celebrate the milestone.

Salvado will be joined by international comedy acts including Kenny Blaq, Eric Omondi, Eddie Kadi and Alfred Kaingo in addition to Uganda’s Daniel Omara, Prince Emma, Ronnie McVex, Agnes Akite and Madrat&Chiko among others.

Salvador’s blend of laugh-out-loud humor and attention to ridiculous details while narrating stories has earned him a widespread following across Africa and beyond, making the laugh fiesta the most-anticipated comedy show of the year.
