Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mossimane has officially exited Premier Super League defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 2019/2020 treble winner confirmed his departure in an official statement released on Wednesday afternoon.
“It is with a sense of pain and sadness that I announce my departure from Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club. I have accepted an offer to join an international club,” he said
He added, “Mamelodi Sundowns has been my family for almost eight years. The President Dr. Patrice Motsepe has been a father to me. He has been a mentor, a friend, a supporter and a confidante. I could never quit him or Mamelodi Sundowns. I am only going away to carry the spirit of the yellow nation with me.”
Mosimane leaves Mamelodi Sundowns after winning Five ABSA Premiership titles, three Nedbank Cups, One CAF Champions League and a CAF Super Cup.
Last season, he guided the Brazilians to a domestic treble having won the Telkom Knockout Cup, Premier Soccer League and the Nedbank Cup.
He is set to be unveiled at African powerhouse Al Ahly who parted ways with their Swiss coach Rene Wieler last week.
