Former Police Football Club head coach Abdallah Mubiru could land a new job in the Tanzania Premier League after partying ways with his former paymasters unceremoniously towards the end of the season.
According to reliable sources, the former Uganda Cranes coach is in advanced talks to join Mbeya City in Tanzania.
The CAF ‘A’ licensed coach is said to have received a copy of his contract (soft copy) pending his signature and the deal could be finalized before the end of next week.
Mubiru left Police FC with five games to wind-up the previous season, ending his six year tenure with the 2005 Uganda Premier League champions.
He was previously in the mix to take over Sports Club Villa but the Jogoos agreed terms with Mike Hillary Mutebi instead, according to reports.
Mubiru has previously worked at Proline, KCCA FC, Vipers Sports Club as well as the senior men’s national football team (Uganda Cranes) after replacing Sebastian Desabre in July 2019 on an interim basis.
In case the deal materializes, Mubiru will replace fellow country mate Mathias Lule who joined the Tanzania Premier League club in December 2020.
Last season, the Purple Tigers finished 9th with 37 points from 30 games played.
