Police have confirmed that at least six street children were killed early Monday morning when a perimeter wall of Lohana High School in Old Kampala collapsed on them.
The wall is said to have collapsed during a heavy rain at around 2 am in the morning.
Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said at least eight street kids were hit by the collapsing wall, six of whom died on spot.
The other two were rushed to Mulago national referral hospital.
According to Owoyesigyire, the children were sleeping in a channel adjacent to the school.
Police rushed to the area to clear the rubble and to ascertain whether or not there were still more trapped underneath.
