Police in Kampala have in detention a private security guard, who has been on the run after shooting and killing a mechanic in Kyengera early this week.
The suspect, Isaac Okwir according to police shot dead one Abubakar Kinene, on January 7th in Kyengera.
Okwir has been working as a security guard with Redteck Security Company and was deployed at a Pepsi-Cola Depot in Kyengera.
He is said to have had a quarrel with Kinene, after which he pulled out his gun and shot him in the head
“After the incident the suspect abandoned the gun at the entrance of their head office in Ntinda and took off,” says Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman.
The Gun, Owoyesigire says, was collected by detectives and exhibited along with three rounds of ammunition.
“The suspect was intercepted on Wednesday from Soroti District as he was trying to flee to his village in Pallisa District by Crime Intelligence.”
“He was transported back to Kampala Yesterday. He will be arraigned in courts of law on charges of murder any time from now.”
Relatedly, Police in Kampala have arrested another security guard from Security Group Africa who was involved in another murder.
The suspect, Rwothungeo Dickson, 28, is said to have killed one Ogwang Geofrey, a UPDF athlete on 23/11/2018 at a fuel station in Mbuya at around midnight.
The deceased was engaged in argument with the pump attendant prompting the security guard to respond by shooting him to death .
Dickson later fled the scene to Parombo Nebbi where he was arrested from and brought back to Kampala on Wednesday.
