Dancehall singer and actress Cindy Sanyu’s new acting career seems to be taking her places.
The ‘Onina’ singer made her acting debut in a Ugandan movie titled ‘Bella’ in which she plays the leading role of a talented but disadvantaged singer called Bella.
The singer has been nominated in the Nigeria Entertainment Awards 2018 in the category of Best Lead Role in Film (Non-Nigerian) for her part in Bella.
Cindy is vying for the accolade alongside another Ugandan actor Rushabiro Raymond who has been nominated for his role in the movie, ‘The Torture’.
The two Ugandans face stiff competition from other actors in Africa; Chris Attoh (Ghana), Nyce Wanjeri (Kenya) and Pearl Thusi (South Africa).
The 2018 Nigeria Entertainment Awards will take place on November 10, 2018 in Washington, DC in the US.
Cindy was also nominated at the recently concluded 2018 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards in the category of Best Actress in a Drama for her role in the same film but unfortunately, she lost to veteran Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade.
The film that was directed by award winning Ugandan director Matt Bish also stars Stella Nantumbwe, Mathew Nabwiso, among others.
