CID Boss Arrested for Drawing Pistol Against DPC, Army Commander

Police in Karamoja sub region have arrested the Napak CID officer for drawing pistol against the area police commander while he led an operation against revellers in a night club.

Mr Anthony Kiiza, who is at the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, is said to have drawn a pistol at the District Police Commander, Mr. Michael Ongica, and the UPDF battalion Commander for Napak, Major Richard Odong, as they arrested 25 police found in a night club in Matany trading centre last Thursday.

Mr Kiiza is said to have led residents to attack Kangole Police Station in the area in the protest against the arrest of the civilians.

Ongica on Monday said the officer acted in an unprofessional manner.

He confirmed that the officer was armed and told the pubic to attack police station, arguing that police has no powers to arrest the suspects claiming they were enjoying their rights.

“We have arrested him and is most likely to face several charges which will be handled by Professional Standard Unit PSU,” he said.

He said Mr Kiiza faces charges of insubordination, inciting violence, defying presidential directives on Covid 19, conniving to defeat justice at the expense of the state and uttering harmful propaganda.
