Christians have called to desist from the sectarian sentiments and political wrangles in the forthcoming elections.
This call was made by Western Youth Member of Parliament Hon. Mwiine Mpaka at the consecration of Katete Church of Uganda’s Reverend Henry Nyesiga in Nyamitanga Division, Mbarara Municipality.
Speaking as guest of honor Mpaka warned that politics of religious sectarianism does not deliver services like building schools, hospitals, roads, among others.
“My fellow Christians you must avoid those that divide according to your religions, because what we need are services regardless of who is being voted for” Mpaka said.
The youthful MP fears he himself will be a target of this religious divisionism as he looks to take the Mbarara Municipality parliamentary seat in 2021.
Among other people eyeing the same seat is former Mbarara district chairman Deus Tumusiime who is the chairperson of the Catholics Parish Council in Mbarara Archdiocese, Emmy Mbarebaki the chairperson the Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Association (AMDA).
Mpaka says that for development purposes Mbarara needs Pro- development leaders.
“Vote leaders who are capable of championing development,” he said.
