Cholera Breaks out in Kyangwali Refugee Camp

Ministry of Health has confirmed the outbreak of cholera in Kyangwali, a refugee camp in Hoima District in western Uganda.

According to a Red Cross spokesperson, the outburst was confirmed Tuesday and officials said “it is Cholera case (1).

The spokesperson said that “agencies on ground have been called upon to do additional emergency response offers with own funding for medical & WASH interventions.”

Meanwhile, Uganda Red Cross officials have scaled emergency hygiene and sanitation efforts in the camp through social mobilization for behavioral change, hand-washing, vector spraying and control especially as new arrivals come to reception centers.
