Chicken Tonight Given 2 Weeks to Defend Self in Katatumba Case

High Court has given Chicken Tonight Restaurant 15 days with in which it has to file its defense in a matter in which singer Angella Katatumba is demanding Shs 600 million in compensation, having allegedly been assaulted by the company employees.

According to the summons signed by High court Registrar dated 29th March 2019, Chicken Tonight has been given 15 days to respond to the charges, failure of which court will proceed to hear the matter without their defense.

In this matter which is before Justice Lydia Mugambe, the singer is suing Chicken Tonight and three of its employees who she says assaulted her and forcefully evicted her from their premises where she had gone for fast food.

She says on 1st April 2018 she went to Kabalagala Chicken Tonight Branch where two of the employees attacked her under the supervision of Olubworth Choka Rogers by kicking her which resulted into humiliation, trauma and body injuries

Katatumba says upon being examined it was established that she suffered from grievous bodily harm and she was later referred to International Hospital Kampala where she was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome which requires her to visit the doctor monthly for a period of two years

She has since asked court to declare that the perpetrators who assaulted her did so in the interest of their employer, and thus wants to be paid special, general and exemplary damages amounting to 612,030,920 shillings.
