As expected, the Uganda Cranes flew to a commanding 3-1 win over Somalia in their first leg of the 2020 Africa Nations Championships on Saturday evening.
The match was played at the AL Hajji Hassan Guled stadium in Djibouti.
Uganda’s interim head coaches Abdallah Mubiru and Livingstone Mbabazi started with Charles Lukwago in goal as Paul Willa, Mustapha Kizza, Express’ John Revita and Timothy Awany formed the defensive wall.
Tadeo Lwanga shielded the defense as KCCA FC trio of Mutyaba Muzamir, Allan Okello and Allan Kyambadde created the chances for Allan Kayiwa and Patrick Kaddu.
Kaddu, Kizza and Lwanga scored the goals for Uganda as Farhan Mohamed Ahmed consoled the lowly-ranked hosts.
The two will face again next week on Saturday 3rd August at the StarTimes stadium in Lugogo with the winner advancing to the second round.
