The qualifiers for the 2020 Africa Nations Championships rolled off over the weekend in CAF’s Central East zone commonly known as East Africa.
Uganda set the pace by beating Somalia 3-1 away in El Hadj Hassan Gouled Aptidon Stadium in Djibouti.
KCCA FC duo of Patrick Kaddu and Mustapha Kizza and another by Vipers’ captain Tadeo Lwanga saw the Cranes fly to a comfortable advantage. Mohammed Farhan grabbed the consolation for the hosts.
A day earlier at the same ground, hosts Djibouti had suffered a slim 1-0 loss to Ethiopia with Aschalew Tamene netting the sole strike.
Kenya’s Harambee Stars flew to Dar Es Salaam to pick a draw in a barren stalemate against the hosts Tanzania.
In the other match played, Burundi registered a 2-0 over South Sudan in Bujumbura with Olivier Dusabe and Jospin Nshimirimana writing their names on the score sheet.
The 2020 African Nations Championships is scheduled for mid-January and early-February in Cameroon.
