Encounters between Uganda and Zambia always come with loads of expectations and memories from either side.
It is yet another moment that the two old foes face off in an encounter expected to be full of fireworks.
Uganda and Zambia meet in their first group B game at the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) at the stade grande Marrakech this Sunday with either side eyeing a perfect start.
Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre is confident his troops are in good shape to take on the Chippolopolo the first game.
Desabre notes that it’s important to win the first game because it gives you momentum going forward.
“We are ready, the boys are in good shape and we have tried to address areas of concern ahead of the game against Zambia,” he said before adding “Our target is to get a win in the first game because that gives you momentum in the next games.”
Skipper Bernard Muwanga also echoed similar words indicating they will go all out to make sure they begin the tournament on a good note.
“We are in the right mind as players and we know what is at stake for us. Zambia are a good team but we are equally good and ready to fight for maximum points,” he said.
‘I know what is expected of us in the tournament. I will us experience gained from the several games I have played at the senior level to guide my teammates,” indicated Muwanga.
Zambia and Uganda were in the same group in the last edition in Rwanda(2016) and the former won the game 1-0 courtesy of Christopher Katongo.
Ivory Coast and Namibia who are the other teams in group B will also face of on Sunday at the same ground.
