Police have stressed that singer Moses Mayanja alias Jose Chameleon needs to get clearance to hold any music concerts.
The singer who recently joined politics has so far had two shows in Kalisizo and Mutukula cancelled by police, leaving speculations that he could be suffering a similar fate as singer and Kyaddondo East MP Bobi Wine who has had several shows cancelled since transitioning into politics.
Chameleon’s management say government is trying to frustrate his income to curtail his political ambitions.
According to Chameleone’s manager Robert Nkuke aka Mutima, they had all the requirements needed to have the shows go ahead as planned.
“The DPC of Mutukula was so bitter. They said they were following orders from above. There was nothing missing, we had all the necessary clearances. I think the problem is politics” Mutima revealed.
However, police insist that Chameleone and his team did not obtain security clearance from authorities despite knowing it’s a necessity.
“Its true chameleone’s show in Kalisizo and Mutukula were cancelled. This was because he didn’t get a clearance and we can’t accept shows with no clearances from security,” said the spokesperson of Greater Masaka Police Paul Kangave said.
“The artists know the rightful procedures that must be followed to hold the shows but it wasn’t followed.”
Chameleon was recently unveiled as the Democratic Party flag bearer in the 2021 Kampala City Mayoral elections.
