Star singer Jose Chameleone has gifted Saidi Kasule of the legendary Afrigo Band with a brand new Saxophone as a way of paying his respect.
The ‘Champion’ hit maker handed the Yamaha Tenor Saxophone over the weekend stating that he will celebrate Saidi’s legacy when the saxophonist is still alive unlike others who will wait for when he is gone. “With all the respect for the Legendary AFRIGO BAND I have managed to embrace the legacy by Getting my Father, Brother and Friend #SAIDI a fresh Yamaha Tenor Saxophone. I won’t wait to celebrate you it’s now” Chameleone said.
The Leone Island boss has since described his association with Afrigo Band as ‘cross generation’ considering they mentored him and paved way for the new generation of musicians in Uganda. “Cross Generation!! I got so much respect for every fore mentors and fathers that made way for the generation we are. Was a great night of love and legendary music. Thanks for the love and energy” added Chameleone.
The Afrigo Band is the longest-lasting musical group in the history of Uganda, having existed for over four decades and still going strong. Besides Saidi, other members include Moses Matovu the leader and one of the founders, Rachael Magoola, Joanita Kawalya and Herman Ssewanyana among others with classic hit songs like Obangaina and Sikulimba.
