The game between Uganda and Sudan at the ongoing CECAFA U17 Championship in Burundi has had a change in the venue.
The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations
(CECAFA) secretariat and executive after a consultative meeting have agreed to change the venue of the game slated for Wednesday from Muyinga to Gitega.
Rogers Mulindwa, the spokesperson of the CECAFA indicated that they have agreed to shift the game to Gitega to save both teams from making the daunting trip to Muyinga.
“After a complaint from the teams about the distance from Gitega to Muyinga, the executive after a meeting has decided to make changes and the game between Uganda and Sudan will be played in Gitega. “ He said.
Both Uganda and Tanzania reside in Gitega which is about 107 kilometres to Muyinga.
The fate of Zanzibar who are also in the same group (Group B) with Uganda is yet to be decided with Sudan lodging a complaint about the legibility of players.
Sudan complained about the age of the Zanzibar players and the organizers are taking investigations into the matter.
Uganda started the tournament with a one all draw against Tanzania on Sunday and return to action on Wednesday against Sudan.
