Cecafa U17: FUFA Hails Uganda Girls For Winning Title

The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) President Moses Magogo has hailed the Uganda national U-17 girls team for emerging champions of the inaugural U-17 championship, which climaxed at FUFA Technical center Njeru on Tuesday evening.

Uganda emerged the victors of the competition after beating Kenya 2-0 in the final game of the tournament that attracted six nations, to top the table with 13 points in a round-robin format with close rivals Tanzania coming second on 11 points.

On return from Njeru, the team was on Wednesday hosted to a luncheon with the President, accompanied by his two deputies Justus Mugisha and Darius Mugoye, deputy CEO Decolas Kiiza and Excom member also leader of Uganda delegation at CECAFA Chris Kalibala.

During his speech, the President hailed the players for the achievement and noted that the Federation is now committed to entering the national women football team categories in any International engagements.

He went further to congratulate newly crowned Airtel FUFA female player of the year and team captain Juliet Nalukenge for the achievement, CECAFA best goalkeeper Daphine Nyayenga and CECAFA U17 MVP), FUFA President and Daphine Nyayenga (CECAFA U17 Best keeper)

He also clarified the fact that the federation decided to help the winning players with 200-dollar assistance each, to cater for their personal needs at the club level.
