Bukenya clad in his business reflector jacket and in company of several dozen bodaboda cyclists vowed to thrash fellow contenders that include IHK boss Dr Ian Clerk.
“My sole aim of contesting in this race is to assure the country that bodaboda riders are competent and credible members of society as opposed to a bad image that they hold of us, here ” Bukenya told journalists at UMA Show Conference Hall in Lugogo.
“The bodaboda industry has for long been used by politicians to enrich their political and personal interests; now is the time that we also get direct representation on the floor of parliament.”
Bukenya noted, “Many people don’t respect bodaboda riders because they are not educated, but we are now disproving them. My academic papers have been verified without any hesitation.”
Bukenya promised to turn Makindye into a big business community through his well informed deliberations on the floor of parliament; and also lobby for more investment in the area.
Bukenya is a 29 year old student of Cavendish University pursuing a Diploma in Law.
