CECAFA Kagame Club Cup 2018
Vipers SC 1-1 Azam FC
Vipers Sports Club sloppy start to the CECAFA Kagame Cup extended into match day two as the Uganda representatives failed to pick maximum points.
The Venoms and Azam FC who are the defending champions settled for a stalemate in the game played at Chamazi stadium on Sunday.
Shaban Iddi gave the Tanzanian side the lead after 23 minutes with a curling effort that went past goalkeeper Bashir Sekagya, a new recruit from UPDF FC.
However, Vipers SC rallied back six minutes later through striker Dan ‘Muzeeyi’ Sserunkuma who slotted home from a Milton Karisa cross.
Sserunkuma was scoring his second goal at the tournament. The other came against JKU in their opening game with Karisa still being the provider.
Vipers SC chances of advancing to the next stage will hugely depend on the result they will get in the final group game against minnows Kator FC from South Sudan who have lost their two games.
JKU now lead group A on 4 points after their 2-0 win against Kator FC. Azam FC follow closely on 4 points as well while Vipers SC is third on two.
